The Role:
- To develop and lead the Business Development operations of a global £80m market leader to ensure maximum return on all opportunities whilst profitably growing market share in existing and newly identified sectors and applications.
- To create coordinated business plans and product road maps designed to promote and deliver business growth across the sector.
- To manage day-to-day business development activities to ensure profitable exploitation of all opportunities and seamless execution of product strategies.
- Work as part of the management team to develop the infrastructure to best serve the needs of the business
Direct Reports:
- Product managers, Technical support, Product development teams
Key Accountabilities:
- To develop and maintain a first class business development organisation, holding the prime responsibility for achieving that goal.
- Set and agree annual / quarterly targets including product development, new product introduction, product support, marketing and associated overheads.
- Develop and maintain a 5-year view on the marketplace.
- To support the strategic direction for Sales.
- To analyse recent and historical information and knowledge within the organization to develop a strategy and business plan for the global Industrial markets, including new market opportunities and potential targets for acquisition.
- To determine key business processes and organization required and ensure appropriate resourcing to deliver plan, e.g.
< Forecasting systems
< Cost reporting
< Published Decision Rights analysis
< Legal / Contracts / IP
- Management of all Products within the business sector to exploit new and existing
opportunities
- Manage the development & launch of new products:
- MRS / business plans
- Sales strategies / Marketing Plans
- Commercial implementation / launch strategies / evaluation programmes
- Establish business metrics to measure performance of business versus market and
competitor activities. Manage competitor database and other market intelligence, including pricing, market statistics, functional performance data and trends.
- Collaborate to ensure transfer of BOP and be an effective member of teams to globalize processes and procedures where this is appropriate
- Contribute to the strategic management and development of the business through participation in the management team
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Ability to manage commercial processes using advanced business systems software,
preferably SAP.
- Have at least 5 years experience in relevant areas such as customer care or business processes (edSAP)
- Have knowledge of the market through either direct contact or through management of a function dealing directly with the specific market segment.
- Proven ability to collaborate across a wide range of disciplines to deliver business strategies and solutions.
- Ability to work with and relate to all levels of individuals within the company including director level
- Customer focus and empathy will be a key requirement.
- A working knowledge of ERP systems functionality including SAP, Mapics and other business software systems
- European and / or Far Eastern Language, in addition to English, will be a significant
benefit.
Education
- Educated to degree level followed by a minimum of 5 years experience in a customer service, business or product development role. This should include a period of direct customer selling, account management or business development in a technology related industry.
