THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:

This is a leading supplier of map-based (GIS) software solutions. No, GoogleMaps are no competition, don’t worry! We’re talking solutions around vehicle routing, scheduling and optimisation, supply chain network distribution planning, that kind of thing. They are now seeking a sales manager for their GIS Map Data and Business Intelligence software. The role is 80% sales, 20% management, leading by example (please note this is NOT a pure management job, just managing salespeople and not doing any sales yourself!).

This is a small company that has just been acquired by a large company, giving you “the best of both worlds” in terms of stability and working environment.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The following experience and attributes are essential for this role:

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in selling software to businesses
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in sales management
• Previously successfully developed a sales team
• A track record of hitting targets over several years and able to prove it!
• Experience of winning new clients from cold-calling
• Experience of dealing with all levels from “coal face” up to C-Level

Please note the above criteria are essential – you require all of the above points to be eligible for this role.


THE ROLE:

Please note: This is NOT a pure management role, just managing salespeople whilst not doing any sales yourself! The role is 80% sales, 20% management, leading your team by example in that you’re still bringing in business. Part of your target will be personal, part based on your team’s performance.

You and your team would be selling their GIS software products around Map Data and Business Intelligence. Yes there is cold-calling: They need “hunters” not afraid to knock on doors, but there are also some incoming leads from marketing and trade shows. This is a highly consultative role, developing an understanding of clients’ problems and how you will solve them. You will have excellent support from the considerable resources of the wider group, such as pre-sales, consultancy, software development and marketing.
